How Brad Bevil uses Iron Neck for comprehensive orthopedic neck care.

Two kinds of load, one system: how a physical therapist trains the postural muscles of the neck.

Why it works

Three stages, one system.

The same tool takes patients from early, controlled loading through to training at home.

01

Start controlled

The Variable Friction Dial runs from friction free to locked in place, so load can be matched to each patient's tolerance.

02

Progress the load

Add perturbation and rotational patterns as patients improve, without changing equipment.

03

Continue at home

The same system works between visits, so patients keep training and clinics stay part of the progress.

His approach

Comprehensive orthopedic neck care.

Patients arrive with different histories, tolerances and goals. The postural muscles of the neck need to be trained for all of it.

Orthopedic neck care asks a lot of one tool. Brad Bevil, DPT, uses Iron Neck to cover that range in a single system, from early, controlled loading to more demanding work as patients progress.

Perturbation and straight resistance

Straight resistance gives consistent, predictable loading through controlled ranges of motion, which makes exercises easy to prescribe, repeat and progress. Perturbation adds the small, unpredictable forces the neck has to react to, training the postural muscles to stabilize the head.

Control for the clinician

The Variable Friction Dial lets clinicians adjust rotational resistance, from friction free to locked in place, so load can be matched to patient tolerance without changing equipment. AirFit technology keeps a secure, even fit, so patients can move freely and comfortably through prescribed exercises.

Continuity at home

Because the same system works at home, patients can keep training between visits, and clinics can stay part of that progress through the Iron Neck clinic affiliate program.

The method

Two ways to load the postural neck muscles.

01

Perturbation

Train the neck to react.

Small, unpredictable forces the neck has to react to and stabilize against, created as the head moves against band resistance on Iron Neck's 360 degree slider.

02

Straight resistance

Load it predictably.

Consistent, predictable loading through controlled ranges of motion, making it easier to prescribe repeatable exercises, monitor tolerance, and progress patients safely.
