Dr Jatinder Hayre is a medical doctor, public health researcher and internationally published author whose career spans clinical practice, academic leadership, and evidence-based medicine. Originally an alumnus of the University of Nottingham, he has held esteemed academic positions at top UK university institutions.
Dr Hayre has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications including work in The Lancet and BMJ, and his most recent book The Lost Generation of COVID-19 (Routledge, 2023) explores the enduring impact of pandemic-era social inequalities on child health and wellbeing in Britain. His research interrogates the social determinants of health, health equity and systemic disparities: drawing on clinical insight, rigorous methodology and policy relevance.
His work is guided by the conviction that health is not simply the product of biology but the culmination of social structures, lived experience and the policies that shape daily life. He approaches medicine as both a science and a social endeavour: requiring disciplined methodology, compassion and a persistent interrogation of systems that determine who thrives and who is left behind. With a firm belief that scholarship must serve the public good, he draws upon clinical insight, population-level evidence and policy engagement to advance equity, integrity and transparency within healthcare.
He operates with a mindset rooted in curiosity, critical reflection and purposeful optimism. Each project is undertaken with deliberate precision, a respect for intellectual honesty and a commitment to elevating marginalised voices. He values clarity without simplification, and ambition without detachment from real-world complexity. In his medical reviewing and research, he prioritises accuracy, fairness and public trust, ensuring the quality of information available to communities is both reliable and empowering. At the heart of his practice lies a belief that rigorous thought and humane action belong together, and that meaningful progress begins with steadfast attention to truth, equity and human dignity.
